Squaw Valley Electric is proud to help support some young local ski racers. We had the pleasure of sponsoring Ryan Herhusky and David Morken for their 2018-2019 ski season.
Ryan Herhusky, a second year U16, had another great season this year. His prep period included selection to the Western Region Slalom project in Mt. Hood followed by camps in Stelvio and Copper. He was selected again to the National Performance Series which involved a speed project in Copper and a tech project in Burke, VT. At Burke, Ryan was 6th in slalom in a field of the top U16’s from around the country. He also raced in the Proctor Holiday Slalom in New Hampshire, taking 2nd. Ryan won the Western Region U16 Slalom Qualifier at Squaw Valley. He was 4th in slalom at Western regions in Sun Valley, Idaho, qualifying for U16 Nationals in Breckenridge where he took 11th in slalom and 14th in Super G. He also took 1st, 2nd and 6th at the Far West Speed Finals (SG) in Mammoth. Ryan was also honored to receive Far West Skiing’s Bobby Mehrof Outstanding U16 award for the season.
David's biggest accomplishments winning the U-14 Championships at Squaw and being presented with the Ralves Cup which is awarded to the fastest male athlete throughout the 4 days of racing , he won the Super-G and took 3rd in the GS Also notable were his 8th place finish in the super -g during U-14 Western Regional Championships in Big Sky Mt he also placed 13th in the GS He had one other podium finish at Diamond Peak - 3rd place in the regional qualifiers
